Job Description

The Corporate Store Merchandise Assistant is responsible for providing exemplary customer service that is designed to improve the productivity and profitability of the Hallmark Corporate Stores. The Merchandise Assistant provides the customer with solutions by working proactively with them. As a member of the store team the Merchandise Assistant will serve as a role model of best practice retail execution. The overall focus is on sales and service at all times. Stocking products and assisting with stockroom duties are accomplished as needed.

The Merchandise Assistant will work closely with the Corporate Store Team and report directly
to the Store Manager. Basic qualifications include eligible to work in the United States, must have reliable transportation, must be at least 16 years of age with appropriate permit as required, and willing to work the day before and after major holidays including evenings and/or weekends. In addition, physical duties involve the ability to continuously stand/walk; frequently push/pull; occasionally bend/stoop/crawl/reach above shoulders/kneel; climb a ladder, and carry up to 40 pounds; i.e., fixture parts and cartons. Part Time - 27 hours per week

Physical Demands – The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  •     Requires standing approximately 5 – 8 hours per day usually 3 – 5 days per week.
  •     During peak sale periods (e.g. Holiday, Back-to-School), will work for long periods throughout a 1 – 12 hour day.
  •     Requires stooping and kneeling to place merchandise on customer’s feet as well as reaching and pulling to obtain or stock merchandise on storage racks.
  •     May be required to climb ladder or ascend/descend stairs in order to stock and/or acquire merchandise for sale.
  •     Required to lift items weighing 5 – 25 lbs regularly.  In certain circumstances, weights may be higher.
